The curation of Day For Night cut against expectation. It positioned art installations beside musical acts not as decoration but as equal players in the same high-stakes game.
In Houston these works demanded their own reckoning. The 35,000 bodies moving between sound and image weren't there to be impressed; they were there to witness something unresolved yet necessary. Their presence suggested a hunger for experiences that refuse the comfort of easy categorization.
The visual artists were : Casey Reas, Zach Liebermann, The School For Poetic Computation, Nonotak, Refik Anadol, Kamil Nawratil, Joanie Lemercier, Gabriel Pulecio, Vincent Houze + AV&C, Dave Cihelna & Gene Han, MasOMenos, Mark Eats, Markus Heckmann and Nightm0ves.
