Dream Jungle is a commission from Meow Wolf Las Vegas, aka “Omega Mart”. It is a continuation of a previous piece entitled Photoperiod, shown at Day For Night 2015 and at Mana Contemporary.
The installation is comprised of hundreds of silk plants, mounted to the surfaces of curved walls. The audience is surrounded by these plants, which are covered in media coming from 7 projectors.
The main tenet of the piece is that plants dream and that they dream collectively. Their dreams are made of the things they hear (our voices, our stories, our songs, but also the sounds of the world, water, the earth, wind, etc..) and express themselves through their foliage.
The music was composed by Roland Arnoldt, and several sections used voices that were recorded by close friends and family. I thank them all for their invaluable contributions.
