Tree of Life is a special project.  Following my previous collaboration with threeASFOUR, which was all about humans inside impossible fractal environments, we decided to take a it a step further and created twelve fractals, with moving humans, and embedded each one into the other.  This involved 3d fractal generation, design and animation, keying and color correcting the models, and finally motion tracking them inside the fractal environments.  The film was premiered at Mana Contemporary

In “Tree of Life”, threeASFOUR and digital artist Alex Czetwertynski offer a glimpse of the un-glimpsable as intimate connections between the organic and the mathematical, the transcendent and the quantum, are revealed. Using groundbreaking 3D fractal animation, we are taken on a journey within a multi-verse of infinite spaces, concealed - matryoshka like - within imagined anatomical regions of the human body. As we explore these intricate macro and micro landscapes, notions of size, space and locality become relative. The effect of the six minute film is at first disorienting - yet ultimately reassuring - as we begin to grasp our own place in the cosmic progression.
